Principal – Fairbridge College, Pinjarra Campus

Fairbridge is seeking a full-time Principal to lead our Pinjarra College campus into its next phase of development while maintaining the core values of the school. This unique leadership role involves leading and collaborating with a dedicated staff who are passionate about improving opportunities for young people, especially those who struggle in a mainstream environment. The position is available immediately, with a start date negotiable from now until 1 January 2025, depending on the availability of the successful candidate.

About the Role

Reporting to the CEO, the Principal will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring excellence in the provision of safe, inclusive education.
  • Providing educational leadership based on AITSL Standards.
  • Contributing to and implementing the Strategic Plan.
  • Guiding the vision and direction of the school in line with strategic planning.
  • Leading and developing a positive, cohesive, and committed staff team.
  • Representing and promoting the school positively and with integrity to all stakeholders, including staff, students, parents, and the wider community.
  • Ensuring the school’s continued registration and compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Developing and managing the school budget and maintaining school finances within agreed budget parameters.
  • Overseeing a risk management framework.
  • Overseeing the marketing and promotion of the school.
  • Implementing educational improvement plans and school policies.
  • Supervising and promoting appropriate and regular professional development for all school staff.
  • Managing recruitment, engagement, performance management, and dismissal of school staff.
  • Overseeing preparation of the timetable and rosters.
  • Sustaining and improving the school’s natural and built environments, ensuring facilities are maintained in good order.
  • Staying abreast of trends and research in education and relevant technology.
  • Collaborating effectively with the Fairbridge Education Committee, providing accurate and timely reports, information, and advice at each committee meeting and as required.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Essential

    • Strong commitment to advocacy for at-risk youth, CARE school principles and education.
    • Previous experience as a Principal, Deputy Principal, or other demonstrated leadership role.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
    • Experience in strategic planning and realisation of outcomes.
    • Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA) registration or relevant tertiary degree and teaching qualifications.
    • Current Working with Children Card.
    • Strong emotional intelligence skills to build effective relationships and manage team dynamics.

    Desirable

    • Experience in teaching within a framework of trauma-informed practice and/or knowledge of the Berry Street Education Model.
    • Understanding of and experience with the Western Australian Curriculum.
    • Business management and administration skills.
    • Innovative thinking towards technologies and educational approaches.
