Social Worker / Well-being Officer

Location: Fairbridge College Pinjarra Campus, WA

Position: Full-time

Starting Date: Term 4, 2024 or by negotiation

Your Role

As a Social Worker at Fairbridge College, you will be an integral part of our student support team, working closely with two psychologists to manage caseloads and provide comprehensive social and behavioural support services. Your focus will be on enhancing the well-being of our students through holistic solutions, advocacy, and coordination of services, ensuring each student receives the support they need to succeed in their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop strong, respectful relationships with students, staff, and
  • Collaborate with psychologists, school staff, and external service providers to support student assessment and intervention.
  • Provide case management and direct support to students through individual consultations and group sessions.
  • Advocate for students’ needs and ensure they have access to necessary resources and support services.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of intervention plans and contribute to the overall well-being of the school community.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in social work and inclusive education.

Skills and Attributes:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related
  • Current registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or an equivalent professional body.
  • Strong case management and organizational
  • Significant experience in social work, preferably within an educational
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and families.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and

 

Desirable:

  • Experience working with children and adolescents with diverse
  • Understanding of the National Curriculum and SCSA Assessment
  • Knowledge of the principles of the Disability Discrimination Act and Disability Standards for Education.
  • First Aid certification and Working with Children
